Support for parents and carers
Parenting a neurodivergent or disabled child is a little bit like being thrown into the deep end of the pool without knowing how to swim. We can only do the best that we can. It can be hard to see our child struggling and not know how to help or know what their future will be. You are not alone.
At Acorn we strongly believe that YOU are the expert on your child. We will learn from you about your child and what’s important to your whānau. We will support you to enable the good life that you imagine for your child and whānau.
Sometimes direct parent training can help you develop new skills that support your child’s development or lead to a more peaceful home. Parenting a child who learns differently often requires a different kind of parenting and we know that they don’t come with instruction manuals.
